Special Needs SEA students succeed against all odds

A pupil of the Audrey Jeffers School for the Deaf, Thorne has never allowed his disability to hold him back, and despite facing many challenges, including the disruption of classes due to the covid-19 pandemic, he persevered. Communicating via sign language with his interpreter, the teenager revealed that he “felt very happy” to be recognised for his hard work and was looking forward to a career in photography when he finished school.

Mobil Outlaw first to reach Store Bay at bmobile and TTPBA’s Great Race

On Saturday, 23 boats battled in six different race classes as the 52nd edition of the race, hosted by the Trinidad and Tobago Power Boat Association (TTPBA) and sponsored by bmobile, got underway. The race which streamed live to 138,000 viewers on the TTPBA and bmobile Facebook pages, began at Williams Bay, Chaguaramas in Trinidad at 7am, racing to the Store Bay Beach facility in Tobago.

Female Driver competes in male dominated Great Race hosted by bmobile and TTPBA

This year will also feature a mixed team which is unusual because powerboat racing is a male-dominated sport. Jason Costa and Stephanie Llanos are hoping to capture first place in the 80 mph class with their boat, Heat Wave. The couple, who are engaged, will be racing together for the first time, with Llanos making her entry into the sport as the driver and Costa, with seven years’ experience racing Heat Wave, as the throttle man.
