For 2020, TSTT staff decided to provide relief hampers via a Christmas Charity Food Drive to families with the intention of spreading the Christmas spirit, particularly to some of those affected by the economic fall-out of covid-19.
Update: TSTT wishes to advise that the exercise to ease congestion on the mobile network has proven to be successful. As a direct result of this timely action, bmobile customers should experience normal browsing speeds when accessing the internet from their mobile devices.
The e-commerce training, co-sponsored by bmobile along with GSMA, USA and Verizon and others, catered to young women aged 16 to 25, mostly from under-served communities across Trinidad and Tobago and brought a series of learnings geared to empowering participants to design and build online sales platforms.
Ian Galt, General Manager Enterprise Services at TSTT, presented the finalists and announced the winner at the virtual event. He noted that it was inspiring to see T&T born and built businesses harnessing technology to innovate, advance their operations and their industries, and ultimately propel the country forward.
Mr. Ian Galt, General Manager Enterprise Services at TSTT detailed the initiative further, “TSTT and Digicel have come together to supply TATT with 5000 tablets each at a particular and aggressive price point negotiated on their behalf, from a world-class manufacturer. Given the surge in demand for these devices, we are happy that our teams were able to execute on this to do our part so that no child would be left behind, not in the area of education and technology, as we adjust to the realities of the pandemic.”
Praising bmobile for the role they played in making the activity happen, co-founder of Launch RockIt and now Head of Innovation at Agostini’s Limited, Gerard Thomas, who is supporting YBTT for this initiative, said: “bmobile’s intervention on this was so critical. What could have been perceived as a headache and inconvenience to ensure the activity was conducted safely, with strict adherence to public health guidelines, did not deter bmobile.”
bmobile has always recognised the need to uplift persons living with disabilities and has been committed to helping organisations like the Caribbean Kids and Families Therapy Organization (CKFTO) with this vision achieve their goals. Gerard Cooper, TSTT’s General Manager Shared Services, believes in creating a more equitable future for all citizens.
Introduced in 2018, the bmobile Business Technology Award highlights, recognises and celebrates companies that are leveraging technology to drive and further develop their business. Particular attention is paid to disruptive, technology-based companies that are making significant positive impacts for consumers and for the industry too. To complement the title, the winner will receive a customised bmobile Business Solutions Package valued at $10,000, which is specifically designed to support the continued advancement of the company.
The achievements of the top two 2020 Secondary Entrance Assessment (SEA) students in Tobago were celebrated by the bmobile foundation. First placed, Susannah Thompson, and second placed, Reyanna Thomas, have been awarded connectivity for the first five years of secondary school admission. The students were honoured during a simple ceremony held at the bmobile Lowlands Mall Office in Tobago.
TSTT and VMware hosted a webinar recently to discuss this issue and detail how cloud-based technology, delivered by a best in class data centre provider, could dramatically improve a company’s financial profile while providing it all the tools to better manage the current business challenges and be ready for the future.
