The International Chutney Soca Monarch takes on an exciting new format this year, with a delayed-live broadcast across several platforms and media stations and a dramatic increase in foreign participation too. The decision to continue the competition was made very early on to support the culture and the artistes in a year that has impacted both significantly.
RAMPS Logistics and bmobile combined resources and collaborated to provide Smart Devices equipped with WIFI to Ezekiel Home for Abandoned Children, Chickland Children’s Home and Ryu Dan Dojo Youth Empowerment Centre. The three beneficiaries were identified by RAMPS Logistics as part of their ‘Cross Border Device Drive’; an initiative launched by the company to provide 1000 devices to students in need across the regional territories in which the organisation operates.
The 2021 bmobile & TUCO Online Road March will allow artistes to register up to two songs for entry which will then be voted on via unique text codes through bmobile’s text messaging platform. This new take on the decades-old competition will provide an alternative platform for showcasing the work of musicians and also offer up a Grand Prize of $100,000 to the song and artiste with the most votes.
TSTT’s Manager of Support Services, Patricia Edwards-Charles, who along with other staff, executed the initiative which was conceptualized by the Senior Manager Tobago Operations, Frances Simmons, to bring a smile to the faces of those in need.
For 2020, TSTT staff decided to provide relief hampers via a Christmas Charity Food Drive to families with the intention of spreading the Christmas spirit, particularly to some of those affected by the economic fall-out of covid-19.
Update: TSTT wishes to advise that the exercise to ease congestion on the mobile network has proven to be successful. As a direct result of this timely action, bmobile customers should experience normal browsing speeds when accessing the internet from their mobile devices.
The e-commerce training, co-sponsored by bmobile along with GSMA, USA and Verizon and others, catered to young women aged 16 to 25, mostly from under-served communities across Trinidad and Tobago and brought a series of learnings geared to empowering participants to design and build online sales platforms.
Ian Galt, General Manager Enterprise Services at TSTT, presented the finalists and announced the winner at the virtual event. He noted that it was inspiring to see T&T born and built businesses harnessing technology to innovate, advance their operations and their industries, and ultimately propel the country forward.
Mr. Ian Galt, General Manager Enterprise Services at TSTT detailed the initiative further, “TSTT and Digicel have come together to supply TATT with 5000 tablets each at a particular and aggressive price point negotiated on their behalf, from a world-class manufacturer. Given the surge in demand for these devices, we are happy that our teams were able to execute on this to do our part so that no child would be left behind, not in the area of education and technology, as we adjust to the realities of the pandemic.”
Praising bmobile for the role they played in making the activity happen, co-founder of Launch RockIt and now Head of Innovation at Agostini’s Limited, Gerard Thomas, who is supporting YBTT for this initiative, said: “bmobile’s intervention on this was so critical. What could have been perceived as a headache and inconvenience to ensure the activity was conducted safely, with strict adherence to public health guidelines, did not deter bmobile.”
